What our online tutoring covers
We tutor at university level across the subjects where our team has real expertise: psychology and the social sciences, statistics and research methods, business and economics, health and nursing, education, and academic writing across disciplines. We also support physics, mathematics and other quantitative courses where we have a suitable tutor available, and we tell you honestly if we do not.
Sessions can focus on a topic you find hard, a set of practice problems, a reading you need to understand, or the skills behind good work: structuring an argument, reading a journal article critically, or planning revision. For statistics in particular, our dedicated statistics tutor service covers everything from introductory stats to multilevel models.
A typical first request might be a psychology student who understands the lectures but freezes on exam questions about research design, or a nursing student who needs help reading statistics in journal articles. In both cases the tutor starts from where you are, uses examples from your own course materials, and builds up step by step until you can answer similar questions without help.
How online sessions work
After you request a quote, we match you with a tutor and arrange a first session at a time that works across time zones. In that session your tutor finds out what you already know, where you get stuck and what deadlines you face, then agrees a plan with you. Most students book weekly or fortnightly sessions of 60 minutes, with extra sessions before exams.
Sessions use video with screen sharing, so you can work through problems, software output or your own notes together. You do the thinking and the writing; your tutor asks questions, explains, models a worked example and checks your understanding. Between sessions you get a short summary and, where useful, a few practice tasks so you can check your understanding on your own before the next call.
Academic coaching as well as subject tutoring
Some students do not need help with content as much as with everything around it: falling behind on readings, leaving assignments too late, or not knowing how to start a long project. Academic coaching covers those skills. Your coach helps you build a realistic weekly plan, break large tasks into steps, and check in on progress, much like a graduate coach does for postgraduate researchers.
If you are working on a long written project, a coaching relationship can continue into it. Undergraduates often move on to our assignment and coursework coaching, while master's and doctoral students may prefer dissertation coaching.
Who our tutors are
Our tutors are academics, postgraduate researchers and experienced teachers who have taught or marked at university level. Many students specifically want tutoring by someone who has worked as a college professor or lecturer, and for advanced courses that is usually who we assign. Every tutor is matched by subject and level, and if the fit is not right after the first session, we will find you someone else.
Online tutoring means you are not limited to tutors near you: you get the right expertise wherever you are, scheduled around your timetable.
Learning that stays with you
Good tutoring makes you more independent, not less. That is why our tutors explain rather than do, and why they never complete graded work or sit assessments on a student's behalf. It protects your degree and it is how understanding actually builds. Our approach is set out on the academic integrity page. When you are ready, ask for a free quote with your subject, level and the help you are looking for.
What you get
- Live one-to-one online sessions on video call with a shared screen or whiteboard
- A tutor matched to your subject and level, often a lecturer or experienced postgraduate researcher
- A short plan after the first session setting out goals and topics
- Session notes or a summary of key points and practice tasks
- Study-skills coaching on planning, reading, note-taking and revision where useful
What we don't do
- Tutors teach and explain; they do not complete graded assignments, quizzes or exams for you
- We do not offer exam-taking or live help during assessments
- We do not promise particular grades, but we do make sure you know exactly what to work on next
